Why choose HCP-Med at the University of Edinburgh?
We are ranked in the UK's top 5 universities for medicine by both the Complete University Guide (2023) and the Guardian University Guide (2023), and 22nd in the world by the QS World University Rankings by Subject (2024).
You will receive clinical training from the earliest stages and throughout your studies, preparing you to become a competent, ethical and reflective doctor. This training takes place in the city’s three teaching hospitals and others across Scotland, in community general practices, and in our state-of-the-art clinical skills and simulation suites.
The structure of the HCP-Med course can provide a level of flexibility that is not always available in comparison to a traditional undergraduate medical degree.
